CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE DEFENDER 90’S POWERTRAIN OPTIONS?
There are two powertrain options offered for the Defender 90. The first option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged Ingenium I4 gasoline engine that generates up to 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The second engine option is a mild-hybrid 3.0-liter turbocharged Ingenium I6 that creates up to 392 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a twin-speed transfer case and a responsive eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. This combo provides the low-range gear ratios that are essential for off-roading and towing when more control is needed.
WHAT IS THE TERRAIN RESPONSE SYSTEM?
Land Rover has outfitted the Defender 90 with the latest generation of its patented Terrain Response system. This technology gives drivers the ability to configure the model to the surroundings. Drivers can utilize Canter and Rear Slip Limited and Center Slip Limited to prevent cross-axle slip options on the touchscreen controller. There are also three settings for the gearbox and throttle response as well as traction and steering control, to allow all-terrain novices and experienced off-roaders tailor the experience to their needs. Drivers can also save four profiles in the system so different drivers can adapt their settings quickly.
COULD YOU TALK ABOUT THE WADE PROGRAM?
The Defender is the first Land Rover model to come outfitted with the Wade program within the Terrain Response system. This new setting can set the heating and ventilation to recirculate in the cabin, soften the throttle response, adjust the ride height, and lock the driveline automatically while activating the Wade Sensing screen on the touchscreen. This gives drivers the ability to see the depth of the water surrounding them and boost their confidence when fording with the world-class maximum wading depth of 35.4 inches.
